Shields are an exciting addition to the Papilio family of FPGA boards that are similar to Arduino Shields. They provide all the hardware needed for a targeted FPGA application such as recreating classic computing platforms or even learning VHDL. All you do is snap a shield onto a Papilio DUO and you have all the hardware you need for the area of FPGA technology you want to explore.
